FAQ
I would like to commission a portrait, what do I do?
If you want to own a portrait of your pet that is totally original then the first thing you need to do is to supply me with a selection of photographs.
How many photos do you need?
Send as many as you can! I will choose one to base the final portrait on but it is always useful to have a good selection.
The photos should be as clear as possible. The better the photo, the better the finished painting.
It is always better to avoid using flash. The best lighting is outside on a bright, overcast day. Try to get close up to the animal so that it fills the frame. Details of the eyes and fur colour are very helpful.
If for some reason you don’t have photos that you think will be good enough it is always best to let me see them and I can see what I can do. If in doubt contact me.
What materials do you use?
My portraits are painted using the best quality acrylic paints to ensure your painting will last for many years.
I use 100% cotton chunky stretched canvases with a 38mm depth leaving the sides free of fastenings so the portrait can be displayed without a frame.
They are painted on a plain background which gives the portrait a modern , contemporary feel.
How do I pay?
I will take a 25% non-refundable deposit with your order and then the full balance after your approval of the finished painting.
I accept payment by Paypal or by cheque made payable to Karen Murray.
How is my portrait delivered?
Your portrait will be securely packaged.
UK delivery by post and packing is included in my prices. International orders are welcome. Delivery outside UK will be charged extra and based on weight and normal rates of Royal Mail Special Delivery.
How much will it cost?
Please go to the sizes and prices page for information.
If there is a size of canvas that I have not mentioned then please contact me and I will be able to give you a quote.
How long will it take?
Please allow 3-4 weeks delivery time from the date of order. This may vary depending on schedules e.g. Christmas period will be busier.
What copyright applies to the image?
Yes copyright does apply, You own the original portrait but I retain the copyright of the image, which means I can reproduce the work for promotions , advertising etc.
Hopefully I have answered some of your questions, if there is anything else you want to know then please contact me. |
